Ebony and Ivory

my mother in law runs her own piano studio out of her home.  I like to visit so I can sit and read while the sweet tones drifting up the stairs. So beautiful and relaxing. I took these pictures of her piano.

up close

While I am not sad to see the summer pass(I am much more of an autumn girl) I will be sad to miss small moments like this.  I captured this portrait of a bee in the conservatory next to my apartment the other day and I am mesmerized still by the sheer beauty of the small and intricate.

End of Summer

I'm sitting here on my couch...just sitting.  I have not just sat for ages and ages.  If I could just sit anywhere in the world, I think I would choose to just sit on a shaded balcony somewhere beautiful and peaceful...perhaps the ocean.  I could watch the tide go in and out and know that even though I would be just sitting the whole world was moving in front of me and that I could never see the same beach twice.

A little over a year ago I was sitting on a beach for my honeymoon.

This is where I want to be right now.

Tidal pools never loose their magic.

Bear hug or hostile take over?

For now I will just sit in my new apartment and think about the ocean.

I looked into the heart of a flower today...
and marveled at what I saw.

I think that the most beautiful things
are those that can never be made by human hands.
Instead they just exist.

Is this what a bee feels like?

Summer is almost over and with it the flowers....
but soon their will be leaves
and the world will be awash in golden splendor
